Orkney Heritage Tours is the place to contact so you can visit the Ness of Brodgar with an archaeological guide. Unfortunately this is not clearly explained on trip advisor. Although you can visit the site of the Ness of Brodgar on your own, I highly recommend this small group tour with a guide and transportation from Kirkwall three times per day during July and August. This should be the #1 rated historical site in Orkney! The Ness is an ancient site that was either a marketplace or religious center just a stones throw from the ring of Brodgar and Maeshowe. People of all ages can enjoy this tour and there is no physically demanding terrain. It’s very windy so dress warm.
